Residents of Cassava Piece in St. Andrew are now protesting the killing of a woman, allegedly by the police, this morning.

The woman has been identified as Dianne Gordon, 45, who was shot in her yard after returning from a wake at about 1.30 a.m.

Residents say a group of policemen patrolling the area fired indiscriminately, hitting Gordon in the head.

However, Superintendent Everald Linton, of the St. Andrew North Division, told The Gleaner that the report he had was that Gordon was killed during a shooting incident involving police officers and gunmen.

Investigators from INDECOM were on the scene collecting evidence, while Jamaica Constabulary Force Chaplain, ACP Gary Welsh and other officers tried to console residents.

Member of Parliament Karl Samuda has vowed to keep track of the investigation.
