The murder case involving St. Andrew business man Patrick Powell has been put off until September 17.
A trial date is expected to be set when the case is called up on that day.
Powell is charged with the murder of 17-year-old Kingston College student Khajeel Mais.
Mais was shot dead on July 1 last year, when the driver of a BMW X6 reportedly opened fire on the taxi in which he was travelling, after it bumped into the sports utility vehicle.
Powell fled to the United States a day after the killing but returned on July 11 and surrendered to the police at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
The businessman was asked to surrender his licensed firearm for inspection and forensic analysis, but he allegedly refused to do so.
Powell is on bail on both the firearm and murder charge.
